“UNA ERMENEUTICA DELL’EMANCIPAZIONE PER L’IA” (“AN EMANCIPATORY HERMENEUTICS FOR AI”) – Book Launch: Presentation of the volume by ANDREA TERRANOVA

We are pleased to announce an important event for philosophical and interdisciplinary reflection dedicated to the presentation of the volume “An Emancipatory Hermeneutics for Artificial Intelligence: Notes on Method and Potential Operational Tools” (Una ermeneutica dell’emancipazione per l’intelligenza artificiale. Cenni sul metodo e sui possibili strumenti operativi, Mimesis, 2025) by Andrea Terranova.

The meeting is organized by the Master’s in Bioethics, Pluralism, and Ethical Counseling at the University of Turin, in collaboration with MagIA – Magazine on Artificial Intelligence and the Italian Society for the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (SIpEIA).

The book proposes a philosophical reflection on AI that moves away from both the “oracle” and “catastrophe” narratives, reframing AI within the context of judgment and the conditions of understanding. Here, AI is conceived not as a substitute for decision-making, but as a dialogical device capable of making explicit the underlying assumptions, implicit meanings, and interpretive criteria. This perspective deeply impacts institutional and care practices, and more broadly, contemporary forms of responsibility.

The event will feature the author in dialogue with an interdisciplinary panel of professors from the fields of philosophy, bioethics, medicine, computer science, and social sciences.

The meeting will take place online on Friday, February 27th, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (CET) via the Webex platform:
